The Almeida Academy is for little people with BIG ideas.
The Almeida Academy is a weekly drama group for little people aged 5 to 14. We believe in investing in young artists from this young age, to nurture and drive their creativity and curiosity.
The Almeida Academy puts these young creators at the centre of all our work. They have a huge creative input to the development of the end of year productions, and we strive to put them onstage in all their uniqueness. The Academy groups work with industry leading professionals, who learn as much from the young people as the young people learn from them. It is this reciprocal relationship that allows the work to be bold, adventurous and playful.
We are ambitious in our vision of the work we create with the Academy groups and embrace the fun and colourfulness of each individual in every session.
Almeida Academy runs during term time on a Saturday:
5–7 year olds | 12.30pm–2:00pm
8–10 year olds | 2.15pm–3.45pm
11–14 year olds | 4:00pm–5.30pm
Past Academy Productions
In 2019, the Almeida Academy groups again worked with writers Emma Pritchard and Sam Gayton to create two new pieces of performance. The young people devised and workshopped ideas with the writers, before performing at the Pleasance Theatre, on Sunday 6 July, 2019.

In 2018, the Academy worked with writers Emma Pritchard and Sam Gayton through a series of workshops and rehearsals to create two brand new pieces of theatre, which were performed on the Almeida stage on Sunday 18 July 2018.
