Almeida Theatre Participation are looking for a group of engaged and energetic community performers to be part of a brand new community show at the Almeida Theatre, responding to the themes of our upcoming production of Clare Barron’s Dance Nation.
Dance Nation is a ferocious exploration of youth, ambition and self-discovery following a group of dancers as they compete to take over the world.
We are looking for a group of performers of all ages – anyone from 8 – 80+ who are up for singing, dancing and sharing their views about the world. You don’t need experience and you don’t need to be brilliant singers and dancers - we just need a willingness to turn up and bring your energy into the room.
You will be working with a professional creative team: a director, a movement director and a musical director to create an original short piece of theatre with songs and some movement.
We will be holding a recruitment workshop on Sunday 22 July from 10am – 1pm at New Unity Hall, Upper Street in order to select the group we will work with. This will not be a conventional audition, more of a fun workshop. In order to sign up for the project, you need to be able to take part in all of the rehearsals outlined below.
