We are working in association with OpenWorks Theatre to give five young people the opportunity to form a panel which debates the issues they want people to hear about. The participants have been recruited through our social networks, Arsenal, Single Homeless Project, Tomorrow’s People and Big House.
Over three weekly workshops the young people have been working with Abigail Graham, OpenWorks Theatre’s Artistic Director, deepening their investigation of these issues and receiving training in public speaking. The young people are being supported to confidently and fully articulate the issues important to them.
The panel discussion will take place on the Almeida Stage on Thursday 5 May from 6pm, followed by a performance of Boy a new play by Leo Butler, directed by Sacha Wares. Support from Pinsent Masons has funded an allocation of 40 tickets to the evening's performance for each young person to give to their peers who do not regularly attend theatre, as a way of empowering young people to participate as part of the Almeida audience.
This is an event by young people, for young people.
