Six Artists in Search of a Play
PART I - PERFORMANCE
A live performance by Mosaic Voices, a professional male acapella choir, dedicated to performing, preserving, and commissioning new music from the Jewish tradition. Mosaic Voices is the resident choir of the New West End Synagogue in London.
Audrey Sheffield on Mosaic Voices: “While exploring the rich history of Jewish Theatre, and how different events functioned as a natural stage for performance, I was particularly drawn to how theatre's roots include Jewish secular song and dramatic improvisation as well as the singing of cantors in synagogues, alongside the plays traditionally performed during religious holidays.”
PART II - PANEL DISCUSSION
What is the place of women in Jewish theatre? And what is the place of Jewish women in theatre? How do contemporary Jewish artists and playwrights view the traditions they inherit and how does tradition influence their practice?
Panelists include Samantha Ellis, Eve Leigh and Amy Rosenthal. Some panellists will be participating remotely via Zoom.
This event is part of Six Artists in Search of a Play.
