In a new series of the Almeida Theatre Podcast, Artistic Director Rupert Goold talks to actors and creatives about the impact the coronavirus lockdown has had, and what theatre means to them. Emmy Award-nominated actor Matt Smith talks to Rupert about their work together on American Psycho at the Almeida, as well as his other work including portraying Prince Philip in The Crown, and as The Doctor in Doctor Who.

Just as The House of Shades should have opened, award-winning playwright Beth Steel (Wonderland) talks to Artistic Director Rupert Goold about how she approaches writing, and her unconventional route to becoming a playwright.

We also talk to some of theatre’s best behind-the-scenes creatives, who give a deeper insight into their craft, including designer Miriam Buether (AlbionThe Jungle), composer Adam Cork (London Road; Ink) and director Carrie Cracknell (Medea; Oil).
