Free drama workshops for 18-25 year olds
Open Sessions are FREE weekly drama workshops for 18-25 year olds. These sessions cover a wide range of performance and theatre-making skills. If you want the opportunity to develop new skills, take part in a creative session and meet new people, these sessions are for you.
They are a fun and relaxed way to get involved in theatre – you can drop into any session without committing to a longer-term project or performance.

Devising Techniques
Mon 27 Nov, 7-9pm
In this workshop you will explore ways to create theatre from a stimulus, and how to use exercises and techniques that will help you approach story-telling and devise theatre in collaborative ways.
This event will be led by Déviniat Adedibu, who is the Participation Assistant at the Almeida and is also an actor & theatremaker whose recent work includes Of the Cut at the Young Vic.

Meisner Techniques
Thu 30 Nov, 7-9pm
An introduction to Meisner technique for those curious about the work of Sanford Meisner. You will take part in practical exercises discovering connection, listening and responding as a foundation of acting.
This event will be led by Montel Douglas is an actor and writer whose recent work includes his debut play, One Way Out at New Diorama Theatre and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Scene Study and Text
Mon 4 Dec, 7-9pm
Not sure how to approach a scene as an actor or director? Explore different approaches to breaking down a script to make discoveries and choices about character and interpretive choices.
This session is suitable for anyone aged 18-25 looking to discover approaches to text work, helpful for audition and rehearsal preparation for actors and directors.
This event will be led by Simon Stephens, who is Participation Producer at the Almeida.
The Basic Exercise
Mon 11 Dec, 7-9pm
An introduction to the work of theatre practitioner Uta Hagen. Discover the foundations of Hagans ‘The Basic’ exercise through six scene questions and explore how to apply these in a practical setting.
Suitable for anyone aged 18-25 with some acting experience.
