Young Producers

An opportunity for 16–25 year olds to learn about theatre producing

Our Young Producers are a group of young people who want to learn about theatre producing, with a specific focus on participatory events.

The programme offers a group of 16–25 year olds the opportunity to programme events and workshops in response to main house productions, as well as develop key producing skills related to project pitching, event management, and marketing.

Young Producers meet staff from across the team and learn what goes into designing the Almeida’s programme, participation projects, producing main stage productions, and running the building.

As part of Almeida Young producers, all participants will:

  • Gain access to the Almeida Theatre and its work
  • Gain access to theatre professionals and their expertise
  • Feel more confident in finding future pathways for involvement – both with the Almeida theatre and the wider industry
  • Develop producing and programming skills, gaining hands on experience planning and delivering participatory activity or project with a focus on artist development

Apply to be a Young Producer

Our next Young Producer’s programme is now open for applications.
This cohort will design and deliver creative events in response to our autumn 2025 production of The Line of Beauty, based on the novel by Alan Hollinghurst, adapted by Jack Holden and directed by Michael Grandage.
We are looking for 12 emerging producers to join the project and co-curate two key events in November 2025 – Almeida For Free and a scratch night for LGBTQIA+ artists.

Who is it for?

  • 16–25-year-olds, interested in developing a career as a theatre producer or as a participation producer
  • Producers who are interested in directly responding to the themes of The Line of Beauty – including the 1980s, working class narratives, the HIV/AIDs crisis, and the lived experience of queer people
  • People who are interested in developing their programming skills – designing festival style events for young people, designing participation events, and working with the participation team to make sure our work is representative of our audiences
  • People who are interested in developing skills related to artist development, curating line ups, and marketing new events to audiences
