The board has been running since 2018 and has been a vital part of the organisation in that time. Consisting of members aged 18-25 who are interested in arts leadership, they meet regularly as a group and are in dialogue with the senior management team and the Almeida Board.

Join the Youth Advisory Board
We’re seeking to appoint some new members to our Youth Advisory Board for a possible one year or two-year term. They will join existing members who have been part of the group for over a year already. Existing members will peer mentor new members.
Our Youth Advisory Board meet monthly and are in dialogue with the senior management team and the Almeida Board. As part of the Youth Advisory Board, you receive an individual training plan and will have the opportunity to access training and support from various staff members, depending on your areas of interest. In return, we expect commitment to attending regular meetings, including informal meetings between the formal monthly meetings. The Youth Advisory Board decide what their focus is going to be, and take it in turns to chair meetings and to decide on agendas.
The program centres around collaborating with the Almeida organisation including:
- Taking part in consultation work and data collection, including listening to and advocating for other young people
- Advising staff in the organisation and stakeholders on key policy areas, in particular our Access Strategy or Actions for Change Policies
- Supporting the artistic team by attending performance previews and relaying feedback
- Working collaboratively on specialist areas to generate new ideas, approaches and be the Almeida’s critical friend
There is also the opportunity to contribute to work on a national scale. The Almeida is one of the theatres involved in the National Youth Advisory Board – a collective of theatres from across the country whose Youth Advisory Boards are working together to amplify the voices of young people and generate positive change in the sector. Some Almeida Youth Board members will also attend NYAB meetings at venues across the country, representing the organisation, leading sessions with other theatres, and feeding back key action points.
Location: Almeida Theatre, Almeida Street, London, N1 1TA
Monthly youth board meetings as well as other events, performances and fundraisers as needed. Almeida Youth Board meetings are held monthly on a Thursday and are run by the Director of Participation. You are also invited to Press Nights and Almeida For Free events.
None – although expenses can be applied for if travel/food costs are a barrier. You will receive a free ticket to all our productions.
The Almeida welcomes applications from young people aged 18-25 with a range of experiences and backgrounds, and with a keen interest in developing future careers in leadership roles within the Creative Industries and Arts.
Almeida Youth Board members do not have to have previously engaged with our work and we actively encourage applications from those who have not.
Youth Advisory Board members must be positive and passionate advocates for the theatre, accessibility in the arts, and have a desire to generate positive change.
Youth Advisory Board members will be expected to attend Almeida performances, some fundraising events and informal meetings with members of the senior management team.
Appointments are for an initial one-year term, with the option to extend to two years, and we are looking for young people who can make a commitment of at least a year.
We would like to hear from you, either in writing, or by video or audio. If you have a CV, please feel free to send it. In your letter/video/recording, please answer these two questions:
