Existing to provoke, inspire and create positive change at the Almeida
The board has been running since 2018 and has been a vital part of the organisation in that time. Consisting of members aged 18-25 who are interested in arts leadership, they meet regularly as a group and are in dialogue with the senior management team and the Almeida Board.

Meet the Youth Board

Alice Eve

Alice Eve
Alice Eve is an interdisciplinary arts producer and the co-founder of Mainstay Creatives, a not-for-profit social enterprise that offers development opportunities to young people through engagement with the arts.
She’s currently part of the team at Plosive, who produce live comedy events, festivals and award-winning podcasts including Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.
She graduated with her Master’s in Creative Producing from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2021, and during her studies worked across immersive production, musical theatre, as well as with charities and educational arts organisations.

Casper Davidson

Casper Davidson
Casper Davidson has worked in Front of House roles in the West Midlands. He is currently an analyst working in regulation at the Bank of England, and often spends his evenings at the theatre. He is especially keen to widen accessibility to theatre for young people outside of London, improve digital theatre offerings, and promote risk-taking drama.

Edward Drew

Edward Drew
Edward (he/him) first came across the Almeida when he saw a flyer advertising community auditions for The Key Workers Cycle. After taking part in The Refuse Collectors’ Play, he knew his relationship with the Almeida couldn’t end there.
Edward is passionate about the voluntary sector and currently works at NCVO as their Training & Consultancy Coordinator. Edward’s background is in fundraising and international development, and he is guided by his particular care for causes related to accessibility, inclusion and social change for which he is a published researcher.

Elina Oliva Romo

Elina Oliva Romo
Elina is a King’s College London English Literature graduate working in positive change PR campaigns. She is passionate about Latinx representation in the theatre industry, and works with the charity Latin Elephant promoting the inclusion of migrant and ethnic communities in urban regeneration projects.

Kieton Saunders-Browne

Kieton Saunders-Browne
Kieton an actor and all round theatremaker (writer, director, producer). He has been making work with his production company Wooden Arrow, for around seven years now, with their latest production Block’d Off being a recipient of the Pleasance Generate Fund, with a two month run over dates in Edinburgh and London. He is passionate about the landscape of theatre for all creatives, and hopes to be part of the incoming change that will enable the next generation of theatremakers to thrive.

Luke Zavrou-Blackstock

Luke Zavrou-Blackstock
Luke is a PhD student in the Sociology department of Durham University, focusing on experiences of race and racism in predominantly white institutions and organisations. Luke graduated from Durham University in 2020 with a BA in Sociology, and UCL in 2021 with an MSc in Social Policy and Social Research. After first attending the Almeida (and the theatre) as part of the inaugural Almeida for Free scheme, Luke is excited to get started with the Youth Board to help extend schemes that democratise theatre for young people.

Madi Mahoney

Madi Mahoney
Madi is a theatre director and youth facilitator originally from rural Southwest England. She is currently working as a Community Director for the Orange Tree Theatre as well as working across freelance facilitation and outreach projects across London. She loves the rehearsal room and making exciting work, so concentrates on how to enable high-quality, stimulating, pride-inducing theatre for and with participants and local audiences.

Rohan Gotobed

Rohan Gotobed
Rohan (he/him) is a theatre director and writer from Dorset. He is currently the Artistic Director of Dorsetborn (an NYT associate company) with whom he is creating new work and supporting early-career artists. Rohan first joined the Youth Board in 2019 and is delighted to be returning for another year. Since gaining experience at the Almeida, he has become a trustee for Activate Performing Arts and is a member of Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole’s Cultural Compact Board. Tara Okeke

Tara Okeke
Tara Okeke is a writer and artist from London. Guided by experiences of illness, alienation and loss, she works to interrogate and enliven the gaps between communities, sites of culture and ecosystems of care. In 2013, as a Young Friend of the Almeida, she wrote the play ‘Peripheral Vision’, which was produced and performed as part of the Almeida Theatre’s summer festival. In 2016, as a member of the Royal Court Theatre’s Youth Board, she helped programme Open Court. And, more recently, she was part of the emerging critic cohort selected for VAULT Festival’s 2022 New Critics Programme.

Zahra Jassi

Zahra Jassi
Zahra is an actor, writer, and theatre maker who has a BA Politics from King’s College London and is finishing her MA Collaborative Theatre at Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company. Influenced by her social science background, she focuses on issues of race, power, injustice, culture, and intersectionality, and aims to work primarily with artists of colour throughout her career. She’s extremely passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion, and the substantive representation of artists of colour on and off stage.
