FAQs
Below are the answers to some of the most common questions audiences have. If your query isn’t answered below, then please don’t hesitate to contact the Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
Performances
We regularly get tickets returned to us which we make immediately available to buy online. So it’s always worth checking back for tickets online. If any tickets are returned just before the performance begins, these will be offered to the returns queue at the theatre on a first-come, first-served basis.
We advise you leave plenty of time to get to the theatre as due to the intimate nature of our auditorium it is not always possible to admit latecomers. If you arrive a little late we will try our best to admit you to the performance at a suitable point, this will likely be to the Circle and you won’t necessarily be able to take the seat you booked until the interval. However if we’re unable to admit you, you will be able to watch the performance on a screen in the foyer until the interval.
Approximate running times are published on all production pages as soon as we have an accurate time. While a production is in rehearsals and during preview performances running times can change, so it is often not possible for us to publish running times until after the first couple of performances. If you need some guidance on the running time, you can contact the Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or email boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
Strobe lighting, loud sound effects and gunshots are sometimes used in our productions. We endeavour to provide up-to-date warnings on our Production Content Guide page , but please note this information can change during the opening performances. For more information you can call the Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or email boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
We always aim to list content and trigger warnings on each of our production pages. We try not to go into too much detail around the plot, but we will flag themes we think could cause upset or distress (for example extreme violence or sexually explicit themes) as well as technical triggers (for example loud noises or flashing lights). We also, where appropriate, add an age suitability reference, this is however only ever a guidance and is ultimately down to individual choice.
Our content warnings are updated as a production evolves through rehearsals and previews, so please note they may change between booking a ticket and seeing the production.
If there are specific themes, triggers or allergies which you would like to discuss with one of our team before you book, please call the Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or email boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
Yes, from time-to-time we will record a performance for future release or archival purposes. We will make it clear to audiences at the point of booking if any recording is taking place at a performance. Due to the way we capture performances there is a possibility that audience members could be filmed and by attending these performances in-person, you are agreeing to appearing in any future recording.

To ensure the Almeida is affordable for everyone, we offer concessionary rates for those aged under 30, over 65s, locals, key workers, those claiming Job Seekers Allowance, and audiences who identify as D/deaf or disabled.
These tickets are available on selected performances, and can be revealed by entering the promo code 25UNDER before selecting your seats. Audiences aged 25 and under with access requirements are also able to book £5 tickets for our access performances by calling the Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or email boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
You are able to book a maximum of ten tickets online across a number of different productions. This prevents individuals reselling large numbers of tickets through unauthorised agents. If you would like to book more than ten tickets please contact our Box Office on 020 7359 4404 or email boxoffice@almeida.co.uk.
Unfortunately we don’t sell Almeida Theatre gift vouchers. We do accept Theatre Tokens for bookings made by phone or in-person, and we also sell Theatre Tokens in-person at the Box Office. Alternatively you can purchase a Gift Membership, which can include the option of two top-price tickets.
We use an online waiting room to limit the number of people on the website during busy periods, such as when new productions go on sale, to ensure everyone has a smooth booking experience.

Facilities
We unfortunately don’t have a cloakroom or bag storage facilities, and large bags can’t be taken into the auditorium.
There are bike racks along Upper Street, as well as at Islington Town Hall, a five minute walk from the theatre, which has secure bike stands with CCTV and street lighting.
We unfortunately do not have space at the theatre to store bicycles, even if they fold down.
Unfortunately tables cannot be booked. However, you can pre-order drinks for the interval and skip the queue by speaking to a member of the bar team when you arrive at the theatre.
