REVERB

On the set of American Psycho, a scene from The Years unfolds, another drop of Ink spills, and 1536 relights the stage.

Performed by our 18-25 Young Company, Reverb is a celebration of the last twelve years under the leadership of Artistic Director Rupert Goold and Executive Director Denise Wood, and of the people and work that have defined this chapter of the Almeida.

Each performance will be a curation of extracts from fourteen of the most significant and influential Almeida plays from the last decade, including The Writer by Ella Hickson, The Clinic by Dipo Baruwa-Etti, and Olivier Award-winning Chimerica by Lucy Kirkwood, among others.

Alongside the main stage productions, over the last 12 years a wide-reaching community Participation programme has seen the theatre work with over 40,000 people through its free schools, Young Artists and community strands; offered 7500 free tickets to school students; offered 10,000 free tickets to 25s and under as part of the Almeida’s long-running Almeida For Free scheme, now entering its ninth year; and launch a multi-year Islington community trilogy.

This Almeida Young Company continues to experiment with the possibilities of Participation work on the Almeida stage, created in collaboration with a team of exceptional artists – many of whom themselves are alumni of Almeida Participation projects.
