"I just wanted to let you know how fantastic I thought the performances were last week! I thought the students did brilliantly and the play was at just the right level for them. They loved the experience and are all looking forward to performing it at the end of year assembly. I really enjoyed CANDI and IAMS performances too, I always think the students get so much out of seeing other students perform and this project was testament to this." Each year we partner with up to 12 local schools from Islington and other surrounding boroughs to connect a diverse range of young people and their teachers with experienced and innovative theatre makers from across the UK. The partnerships are designed to support schools in delivering elements of the curriculum, extend students’ knowledge and experience of current theatre practice and provide professional development opportunities for teachers.
"This sort of partnership is so worthwhile for our students: it gives them the opportunity to work in a professional manner with different practitioners and then to perform in an exciting space to a live audience. I cannot value this too highly in terms of their development, learning and attainment." - Teacher
We offer three tiers of residency packages to accommodate your timetable and budget: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
All three levels include up to 100 free tickets across the academic year to Almeida productions plus accompanying workshops; allowing us to offer local young people access to high-quality theatre in a supported, structured context.
In addition, Gold and Silver partners have the opportunity to take part in our in-depth performance projects which see students taking over the Almeida stage and reimagining one of our productions for an audience of their peers.
Reimagining Almeida Productions
Our Reimagining strand provides partner schools with a term long devising and performance project linked to an Almeida show. Students work with one lead and one supporting theatre-maker to create a short 5 – 10 minute performance in response to a given stimulus drawn from the themes or theatrical form of the chosen production. The final performance is presented on the Almeida stage for an invited audience.
